Our history

Lanserhof is the world’s leading health resort. For over 35 years it has stood for innovative vital medicine and state-of-art concepts for prevention and health regeneration. The LANS Med Concept, the result of years of research and development, is a symbiosis of traditional naturopathy and the latest medical discoveries. This combination helps the guest to regenerate physically, mentally and spiritually and to get rid of unnecessary ballast.

The origin of this success story is the parent company in Lans near Innsbruck, established in 1984. A milestone for Lanserhof was the arrival of Kommerzialrat Anton Pletzer and Christian Harisch in 1998, and since 2009 Stefan Rutter has joined as a partner. It is thanks to them that extensive investments could be implemented. Everything revolves around the guest - the entire hotel area in Lans has been continuously modernised according to this principle. These include the new bathhouse, where particular emphasis was placed on the sensitive integration into the surrounding alpine panorama, and most recently the new Cellgym room and the futuristic-looking new Kneipp area. At the end of 2018, Dr. Katharina Sandtner took over the medical management of Lanserhof Lans.

In 2012, Lanserhof opened its first branch in Germany in the heart of Hamburg - integrated into the medical concept of the historic former post office building. The location is managed by two medical heavyweights - the world-renowned cardiologist Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Kuck, and the orthopaedic surgeon and trauma surgeon Dr. Philip Catalá-Lehnen. The latter became known in the Hanseatic city among other things through his founding of the UKE Athleticum and his work as team doctor for the German Bundesliga Club HSV. Under his leadership LANS Medicum has established itself as the leading institution for sports medicine in Northern Germany. Among his patients are professional athletes of the Hamburg Towers basketball team, the handball players of HSV Hamburg as well as world famous boxing stars. The annual sports symposium organised by LANS Medicum now attracts over 250 doctors and sports therapists to the Hanseatic city.
The high-performance cardiology department of Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Kuck, which operates under the name LANS Cardio, currently consists of a team of four experienced physicians and is the only centre in Hamburg to offer private outpatient cardiological rehabilitation. Patients from all over the world come to Hamburg to be treated by these heart specialists.

With the opening of Lanserhof Tegernsee in 2014, a further location was added. This was designed by the award-winning architect Christoph Ingenhoven and landscape architect Enzo Enea. Framed by the Bavarian foothills of the Alps and surrounded by beautiful nature, here guests find a place of peace, regeneration and revitalisation. Under the direction of Dr. Benedetto-Reisch as medical director, the success of Lanserhof’s concept has been confirmed by 5 consecutive awards as World's Best Medical Spa.

In July 2019 the Lanserhof at The Arts Club opened in Dover Street in Mayfair, in the heart of London. As part of a partnership with London's legendary Private Members' Club The Arts Club, we have opened a state-of-the-art, first-class health club. Experts in general and preventive medicine, orthopaedics, cardiology, radio and sonology and sports medicine welcome guests and members. In addition to the use of the very well-equipped private gym, members have access to a wide range of different fitness courses led by highly qualified trainers.

The Lanserhof List on Sylt is scheduled to open in early 2022, with construction work beginning in November 2017. The focus of Lanserhof Sylt will be on cardiological rehabilitation for acute and chronic illnesses in addition to the naturopathic approach. Further to the range of classic check-ups and individual therapies, there will also be an MRI and a CT. Dr. Jan Stritzke, former head of cardiology at the Nordseeklinik Westerland and currently deputy medical director at Lanserhof Tegernsee will take over as medical director of Lanserhof Sylt.
